We often hear the discussion regarding the second coming of the Lord Jesus, to the extent that some people’s views are that it doesn’t seem to be a reality. A careful read/study of Matthew 24 will reveal to us that Jesus himself warned about the certainty of his return. Therefore, it is important that we be careful what level of discussion we entertain negatively in regard to this event.
In Acts 17: 30-31 we read “And the times of his ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead “.
(Now it is made clear to us that a date for the second (2nd) coming of Jesus has been set. Jesus did say In Mark 13: 32 “But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no not the Angels which are in heaven, neither the son, but the father “.
This is a further indication that the father has established/appointed a day in he will judge the world.
It is interesting based on Acts 17:31 that the world is going to be judged in righteousness; meaning every decision in regard to all men will be based on righteousness. It will not be based on one’s merit, it will not be based on color, it will not to be based on creed, it will not be based on status, it will not be based on zip code, or even years of service, experience, history or age. It will be based on his righteousness imputed to us. 2 Corinthians 5:21
Thus, it behooves all of us to live in a state of readiness, for the Bible said, he that is unjust, let him be unjust still: he which is filthy let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous let him be righteous still: and he that is holy let him be holy still.
Revelation 22:11.
