(Let’s take a look at this command from God. We are being told, to be still as children of God. It is a command that gives no place for the flesh, it is a command that invites us to let go and let God.
A careful look at Psalms 46 will tell us that God is our refuge, that God is our strength, that God is our present help in times of trouble.
In this time of stillness, we should be engaged in the work of prayer, to see the manifest power of God unfolding before us. In verse 10&11 of Psalm 46 the Lord said “Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
The Lord of host is with us the God of Jacob is our refuge “.
Based on what we’ve just read, the Lord has committed himself to fight our battles. He declared that he will be exalted among the heathen, he also will be exalted in the earth, that tells us that, he has won the battle on our behalf!
What is the nature of the battle? We are told in verse 9 “He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth: He breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in fire “.
This reminds me of the words of Moses, when he said “Stand still and see the Salvation of the Lord “.
Let us follow the words of the Psalmist and the words of Moses and allow God to fight our battles against the enemy).
