In Isaiah 1:4-6 we are told that “AH a sinful nation, a people laden with Iniquity, a seed of evil doers, children that are corrupt: they have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked the holy one of Israel unto anger, they are gone backwards.
Why should he be stricken anymore?
Ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faints.
From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they had not been closed, neither bound up, neither mullified with ointment”.
(In this we see where Isiah was describing the sinful condition of man who are desperately in need of spiritual healing. Humanity is covered with sin, as described from the crown of his head to the sole of his feet. Man is sick and in desperate need of healing spiritually. So, Isaiah went on to say in verse eighteen ” come now and let us reason together saith Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they be red like crimson they shall be as wool”.
The Lord promised the healing of the spirit through the death of his son That’s the reason I quoted Isaiah 53:5 three times in this series of blogs that says “but he was wounded for our transgression, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him: and with his stripes we are healed “.
The blood that spilled from the thirty nine lashes Jesus received plus the crown of thorns on his head, also the nails that went through his hands and feet, is the antidote for sin as the word says by his stripes we are healed. John wrote in 1st John 1:7 that the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanseth us from all sins. So Isaiah 53:5 gives us a three fold approach by which God addressed our sins, praise God, for the finish work on CALVARY
