Deuteronomy 10:20-21: Thou shall Fear the LORD thy God: Him shall thou serve and to Him shall thou CLEAVE and Swear by His Name: He Is thy Praise and He is thy God, that hath done for thee these Great and Terrible things, which thy eyes have seen:
Deuteronomy 20:19-20: I call heaven and earth to record this Day against you, that I have set before you Life and Death, Blessing and Cursing: Therefore Chose Life that thou and thy seed may live: That thou mayest love The LORD thy God and that thou mayest obey His Voice and that mayest CLEAVE unto Him: For He is thy Life and the Length of thy days:
What does it mean to CLEAVE: To Cling, to be Joined to God, to hold fast and to make a Deliberate Choice to live in Loving Persistent Obedience to His Voice: To keep close: A deep Inseparable Connection similar to the concept of leaving and CLEAVING as in marriage, where Two individuals become One flesh: Genesis 2:18, 21-24: Therefore shall a man leave his Father and his Mother and shall CLEAVE unto his wife and they shall be One flesh:
To CLEAVE is not just a feeling, but a life of sustained action: Loving and Obeying God: Conscious active decision of whole- hearted Devotion of Heart Mind and Soul:
Joshua 23-8: But CLEAVE unto The LORD your God as you have done this Day: The LORD has driven out from among you great nations and strong: But as for you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this Day: WHY? Because God fights for you: CLEAVE to Him:: Take good heed to yourselves, that you Love the LORD your God and do not in anywise go and Cleave unto the nations remaining and make marriages with them and they to you: Know for a certainty they will be snares and traps, scourges and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from the Good Land The LORD your God has given you:
Joshua’s last words to them to Love and CLEAVE to the LORD and Fear Him: The people said God forbid that we should forsake The LORD and serve other gods:
God is a Holy and Jealous God if you forsake Him to serve strange gods, He will turn and do you hurt and consume you, after He has done you Good: Incline your hearts, in other words CLEAVE unto Him: They said The LORD our God will we Serve and Obey His Voice: Joshua made a Covenant with the people, wrote the Words in The Book of the Law, took a great Stone placed it under an Oak as a witness, lest they forget and deny God: They served God all the days of Joshua and those who outlived him: This is a Great Lesson for us Today:
Jeremiah 13:11: For as a girdle CLEAVE to the loins of a man, so have I caused To CLEAVE unto Me, the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith The LORD; that they might be unto Me for a People and for a Praise and for a Glory: {But they would not} {How very sad} God wants His People then and now, to show forth His Praise and Glory:
