This invitation from the Angel to the women who was first at the Sepulcher is both frightening and revealing.
An invitation to examine where the body of Jesus rested for (3) Three days was a honor and privilege. This memorable Sunday morning is woven in the fabric of Christian worship on Sundays.
The empty tomb still remains one of the greatest evidence of the resurrected Christ. In 1st Corinthians 15 we are told that Jesus met with many people after his resurrection, which bore truth to the invitation from the angel “Come see the place where the Lord lay”.
This quote is taken from Matthew 28:6 “He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay “.
We are told that every year over Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand (250,000.00) people visits Jerusalem to see the empty tomb where Jesus was laid. Mary had a free invitation to the place where he was laid but, for us today the invitation is still open but, not without a cost.
Just to stand there and look into the Sepulcher should create many thoughts in our hearts, to know that God the son once laid there. Now we can see the reason for so many people pouring into Jerusalem each year. Therefore, we all can rejoice in what Revelation 1:18 said “I am he that liveth and was dead; and behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and death”.
Here we have Jesus declaring to John that he’s no longer in the tomb but, he’s alive forevermore, and he has secured eternal life for everyone by capturing the keys of hell and death, this is a moment for praise and worship.
