There is a common cry for help in this country, both from Christian and non-Christian due mainly because of Government shutdown and other factors. However, as Christians we seek shelter and encouragement from the word of God especially Psalm 121.
In Psalm 121 the Psalmist strikes a note of encouragement when he said, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and for evermore “.
(After reading this Psalm we need to ask the Lord to increase our faith so that we will live in the confidence of his words because, not only does this portion of scripture provides general help but, it also provides soul preservation. Giving us the assurance that in the face of difficulties and challenges he will preserve our soul. According to Psalm 3:2 there are many who are of the opinion that in moments like these our souls are in trouble. The exact quote from Psalm 3:2 is “Many there be which say of my soul, there is no help for him in God”. Yet we have the assurance from Psalm 121 that the Lord shall preserve our souls.
In support of this scripture the Apostle Paul assured the people of God in Philippians 4:19 when he said “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in Glory by Christ Jesus “
So, we are told where our help comes from, it comes from the Lord. Let’s look unto this hill for that important help which we so desperately need, that the Lord himself will supply.
