Can we only look on earthquakes as a natural occurrence, or should we relate it to biblical significance. We heard on the news yesterday about a 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Bangkok Thailand and an aftershock measuring 6.4 rocked Myanmar and neighboring Thailand taking the lives of (1,644) One Thousand Six Hundred and Forty-Four people and injuring (3,408) Three Thousand Four Hundred and Eight and still counting. Also destroying buildings, bridges and a dam.
The news that international aid is pouring into those countries are very encouraging. America is also preparing to make its contribution. In addition to all these helps, the Christian community needs to remember those affected in our prayers.
As difficult as this news is we cannot lose sight of what Jesus said in Matthew 24:6-8 “And he shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that he be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famine, and pestilence, and earthquakes, in diverse places. “
All these are the beginning of sorrows “.
(Can we agree that we are hearing about wars and rumors of wars, can we agree that there is kingdom against kingdom, can we agree that there are earthquakes, can we agree that for some of us we have never heard the name of these places which could be considered “diverse places “. This is a clear indication that the long-awaited return of our Lord Jesus is imminently closer than we think. Let us treat this as the fulfillment of what Jesus had predicted or prophesied. Therefore, the responsibility is on us not to get ready, but to be ready for his second coming).
