You will recall, the last time we were here we talked about David showing kindness for Jonathan’s sake but, today we would like to understand why the Apostle Paul use the phrase for Christ’s sake.
We are going to take a look at two of the many passages
From which Paul uses this phrase.
The first passage is 2 Corinthians 12:10 “Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak then I am strong “.
(How interesting despite these negative experiences that we just read about, the Apostle Paul was able to declare to us that he absorbed them for Christ’s sake. This servant of God is looking on the sacrificial life of Jesus and is willing to identify himself with Christ in all these areas of suffering.
This is an example for us as Christians. I am sure you and I in our spiritual walk can recall instances where we experienced moments of challenges that we live through for Christ’s sake.
These five areas of attack that Apostle Paul went through were not the only attacks on his life. He ultimately lost his life defending the gospel for Christ’s sake.
The second (2nd) passage of scripture is 1 Corinthians 4:10 “We are fools for Christ’s sake, but we are wise in Christ: we are weak but ye are strong; ye are honorable, but we are despised”.
In this world for the most part Christians are considered foolish. The most popular reason given for this charge is that we are serving a God we cannot see but, for Christ’s sake, we ignore this charge because the scripture just told us that we are wise in Christ, and we are further told in another passage that God has chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of this world to confound the things which are mighty;
For Christ’s sake we endure insults, for when we are weak, we are strong! Amen and Amen. Let us continue to defend the cause of Christ in all situations for Christ’s sake Amen
