A very happy Father’s Day to all fathers.
Children are a gift from God and He expects fathers to cherish that gift to bring him Glory.
Listen to what God said about Abraham in Genesis 18: 17- 19
“And the Lord said, shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do.
Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgement; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him”.
(It is clear that when God gives the gift of children, he is thinking long term. We’ve just read where God said all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in Abraham; meaning because of Abraham’s children the blessing will filter down through communities to effect one generation to another. Let’s see how God intended this to be done. Take a look at verse 19 again. God said I know Abraham that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord. This goes to the heart of Father’s responsibility.
On this Father’s Day my prayer is that fathers will apply the word of God as a guide to prepare their children for a better community which will have a greater impact on the wider society, if Abraham could do it under God, so can we. God bless you as you try 🙏 🤞
