At some point in the past, it would appear as if death was a one-way street. We are told in the scripture that death reigns, and just the thought of it gives one the impression of finality.
Reading 2 Timothy 1:10 and 1 Corinthians 15 creates in the mind of especially believers that death does not have the final words. In 2nd Timothy 2:10 we read “But it is now made manifest by the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to lite through the gospel:”
(This is an amazing thought, because the Apostle Paul is letting us know that it is now made manifest by the Lord Jesus what the fate of death is.
First: We are observing from this verse that Jesus has conquered death.
Second: He has abolished death and
Third: He has introduced through the gospel immortality and light. In essence Jesus has crippled the fear of death. This leads us to1 Corinthians 15:53-57 “For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So, when this corruptible shall have put on I incorruption, and this mortal shall have put immortality, then shall be brought to past the saying that is written death is swallowed up in victory.
O death, where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
This is made clear to us who it is that disarm death, that person is none other than our Lord Jesus Christ who has brought immortality to light through the power of the gospel. There are many other scriptures that speak to this fact, but the thought that death only opens the door to a new you and a new me is satisfying. Jesus has it under his feet, death is his footstool, this is true victory, glory to God Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
