The recognition of a National Women’s Day is something worthwhile applauding. Women has contributed greatly to different sectors of society, not to mention their responsibility in homes. They are serving in various leadership roles all over the world. There are women who are Presidents, Prime Ministers,
Serving in the Clergy, Commanders, Pilots, Engineers, Doctors, Teachers, Astronauts and so many other areas of professions in the secular world.
We also observe the worth and work of women in the scriptures. Our thoughts go back to the contribution of Eve, Sarah, Rebecca, Deborah, Hannah, Elizabeth, Mary, Lydia, and the list goes on. However, there are two women who have not received adequate recognition whose names are to be found in 2nd Timothy 1:5 which reads “When I call to remembrance, they unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.”
(The greatest contribution that a woman can make is a spiritual contribution. These two servants of God Lois and Eunice were called to remembrance for their steadfast faith in God which served as a mentor for young Timothy. It is clear from what we have read that this is a household which has embarked on Christian principles. The celebration of International Women’s Day, while it’s appropriated generally, it should highlight the impact of the women in the Church. Let me Applaud the Women who serve in different positions in the Church and encourage them to continue serving God).
