We often hear about all night prayer meetings, and we wonder what could keep a person or a group of people praying all night.
Then we examine the scripture, and we discover that Jesus of all persons labored in prayer for an entire night. According to Luke 6:12-13 tells us ” and it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.
And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles”
What is this saying to us? It is saying that there are some decisions that are so vital in our lives, that it requires us to go the extra mile in prayer. To Jesus choosing twelve apostles was no ordinary exercise therefore, he had to engage in an all night discussion with his father. He had many disciples but, he needed twelve apostles.
Can we use Jesus’ experience as an example in our decision making?
The results of Jesus’s all night prayer produced twelve men who were chosen with the intention to evangelize the world, many of us can say we are products of that decision, to which we give God the glory.
