There were three dreams that Joseph received from the Lord. Matthew 1:20, Matthew
2:13,19.
This speaks to us of the keen interest that God had in the security of the birth and life of Jesus.
The Bible does not say a lot about Joseph but, from what we have read Joseph displayed a strong sense of faith obedience and humility towards God and.
In Matthew 2 after the wise men presented their gifts and left, the word tells us in verse thirteen (13) “and when they were departed, behold the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
V14 when he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt”
(The obedience of Joseph is very obvious in the sense that, the same night he got the dream he departed into Egypt, for the protection of the child. Herod thought of killing this child must be taken seriously. In reading Genesis 3:15 it said “the seed of the woman shall bruise the head of the serpent” ever since the enemy is looking for that seed to destroy it.
There’s an attempt in Exodus 1 1n especially V22, where he had failed. We are now seeing him working through Herod to accomplish the same goal but, Joseph responded promptly to the dream and doing so aborted the plan of the enemy. We know that the enemy was serious based on the many mothers whose children were murdered by king Herod’s decree, but the God that we serve who knows the ending from the beginning will always protect his own.
