Timothy was fully aware of the death of the Lord Jesus, how that the gospel cost him his life, and is now seen where the same gospel has caused the Apostle Paul his mentor to be in prison waiting to be executed.
The Apostle Paul was made aware that Timothy was on wobbly legs fearing that he might suffer the same outcome as the Lord Jesus and as the Apostle Paul, this is why 2 Timothy 1:8 is so important, that says “be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;”
This verse of scripture was designed to empower the young servant of God as he struggled under the weight of responsibility as a preacher responsible for a church. Herein Paul said to him partake of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God. At this point a leader can either leave the ministry or take on the afflictions that comes along with the responsibility of the call. In this we have seen the worth of a bold and dedicated servant such as the Apostle Paul as he transfers confidence in not only a young servant but, the people of God in general.
Let’s pray that God will raise up leaders at level who will generate confidence in the hearts and mind of God’s people at this present time.
