One of the ways in which Iron sharpeneth iron in church, is to communicate joy to the brethren. A sad countenance will not communicate joy. We see in John 16:6-7 Jesus had to comfort the disciples because he detected sorrow of the heart. We are not motivated to serve if our hearts are filled with sorrow. It affects our communication, it affects our motivation, it affects our inspiration, and it will ultimately lead to condemnation.
We’re instructed by the Psalmist how we should serve. In Psalm 100 we are told that we should “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
SERVE THE LORD WITH GLADNESS: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise be thankful unto him and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations”.
(What we receive from this Psalm is that we should set the Lord with Gladness, and the offshoot of gladness is praise, thanksgiving, and worship. The offshoot of gladness is praise, thanksgiving and worship which will result in true fellowship with other believers. May the Lord inspire our heart to do so on this last day of June, be bless.
