When it comes to the word of God, as a pastor and a father of three children, I’m under obligation to take a keen interest in how the Lord says we should teach the word of God to our children.
In Deuteronomy 6:5-9
The Lord said “And thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, with all thy soul and with all thy might.
And these words, which I commanded thee this day shall be in thine heart:
And Thou shall teach them diligently to thy children and shall talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and thou risest up.
And thou shall bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
And thou shall write them upon the post of thy house, and on thy gates”.
(In this God is saying that there should be, the conveying of his word within the environment of the home. We read in the Bible where the Psalmist said “thy word have I hid in my heart, that I may not sin against thee” so we see the purpose for the word of God in the environment of the home is to maintain uprightness and holiness before God.
Therefore, as a preacher of God’s word and a father I would recommend that all fathers read and practice this passage of scripture to ensure the Godly upbringing of our children).
