America has experienced a slight decline in the adoption of children in recent years. It is unfortunate, because there are so many children who are waiting to be adopted especially from foster homes. There are many reasons given for this decline. One of those reasons are: while the prospective parents might be interested in the child to be adopted, there’s a reluctance in agreeing to what the adopted child should benefit from the estate of the parents.
Viewing adoption from the word of God, we see the very opposite. According to Romans 8:14-17 “For as many as are led by the spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
For he has not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but he has received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
The spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that we are the children of God: And if children then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together”.
(There are two areas of truth we see in this passage: (1) There’s no limit to the number of children to be adopted in the kingdom of God for the word tells us, “For as many that are led by spirit of God, they are the sons of God V.14.
(2) Once we become children of God, we are entitled to the full inheritance of our heavenly Father by virtue of we being joint- heirs with Christ. So, the evidence is clear that to be adopted in the family of God pays great dividends, there is still room for you).
