Paul speaking to the Corinthian Church, says in 1 Corinthians 1:10
“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no division among you: but that he be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment”.
(This unity is so important to the Apostle Paul that he is appealing to the church to make sure that it is within their midst. It speaks to a sense of oneness despite the fact that we are from different backgrounds of society. There is a common bonding of the believers in Christ.
This is due to the work of the Holy Spirit who operates in the heart of the believer, for we are told in 1 Corinthians 12:13 ‘for by one spirit are we all baptism into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we both bond or free: and have been all made to drink in one spirit.” So, we can speak with authority that the oneness of all people regardless of background is the work of the Holy Spirit.
The unity in the church (the body of Christ) mirrors the unity In the God-Head Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
“For the body is not one member but many”. The Psalmist draws the attention to others when he says”how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity” I therefore exhort you dear brother/sister to be mindful at all times that we are united with each other.)
