These are two sets of people who acted as evangelists in their own right at one point or another.
In the first instance we have Luke 2:15-18 “And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the Shepherds said one to another, let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger.
And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the Shepherds”.
These Shepherds were the first to announce the birth of our Lord Jesus. What joy fills their heart, as they proclaimed this good news.
There we have our first set of evangelists, announcing the birth of the Lord, blessed be his name.
In Luke 24:22-23 “Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre.
And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.” Also read Mathew 28.
Here we see that the women were the first to announce the resurrection of Jesus, they even informed his disciples. May God continue to bless our sisters.
The Shepherds and the sisters, playing their part in bringing glory and honor to the name of the Lord
