On July 4th America celebrated (248) Two Hundred Forty-Eight Years of Independence from Great Britain. This means that The United States of America has the responsibility of sorting out their own affairs. No longer America has to pay allegiance to the British Flag but has established its own flag in various government places. Christians also celebrate independence though it might not necessarily be on the same date but, certainly under the same principle. In 1st Peter 2:9-10 we read “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal Priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that he should show fort the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
Which in time past were not a people but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy”.
(Looking back on this passage we see where we have gained independence from the power of darkness, into the marvelous light of our Lord Jesus. Under the power of darkness, we were not a people, but now, we are the people of God. It is here that we are called upon to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling before God. Phillipians 2:12.
The anniversary of my independence may not be the same as other Christians, but we are all paying allegiance to the same Christian flag which is the Lord Jesus!! Praise his Holy name.
