(From reading the scriptures Mary was not only young but, a God-fearing woman.
The last thing on her mind was to be used in such an important role. The choice was not hers but of God.
Listen to Mary’s prayer when the reality of the responsibility confronted her. In Luke 1:46-55 “And Mary said, my soul doth magnify the Lord,
And my spirit hath rejoice in the God of my Savior.
For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaid: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.
And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
He hath showed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of the heart.
He hath put down mighty from their seats and exalted them of low degree.
He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
He hath holpen his servant Isaac in remembrance of his mercy;
He spake to our fathers as he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed forever”
(Oh!!! What display of reverence demonstrated by Mary, as she discovered that the great God who is filled with wisdom and has unlimited power, chooses to use a vessel as weak and frail as she was. Which brings back the thought that says “If God can use Mary, he can use you” can we ask the question that Saul asked on Damascus Road, Lord, what will thou have me to do?
Wait on the answer, and act upon it.

Yes God can use anyone who’s heart is totally committed to love and worship God. Think of Anna, widowed after only seven years of marriage and apparently childless, and for eighty four years faithfully went to the Temple everyday to pray and praise God. She was a fixture at the Temple and a model of personal devotion. Her love for God was the driving force of her life. Her Faithfulness was rewarded for she was in her customary place, when the Family from Nazareth entered to fulfill the demands of the Law required by the birth of Jesus. Prepared for decades of spiritual devotion, she was at the right place at the right time. At that very moment she came up and began to give thanks to God and continued to speak of Him, to all those who were looking for Redemption in Jerusalem. God chose a widow with a heart for Him, to tell her generation and ours, what she had seen and heard and now like Simeon she might have said the same words, now, Lord, let thy servant depart in peace,for mine eyes have seen Thy Salvation. You can be used of God at any age, and like Mary, say, be it unto me according to thy Word. Luke 1-38
