At some point or another we often hear the encouragement from family, friends and even doctors; that we should drink adequate amount of water daily. This flushing of our organs has great benefits for our bodies. However, it is more difficult to comply if there’s not a thirst for water.
We have discovered also from the word of God, that there is the need for a spiritual thirst. Matthew 5:6 says ” Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled”
(Every one of us has the capacity inside of us to be spiritually filled but, sadly as we look around us there is evidence of man’s lack of thirst for God.
This can be attributed to what John describes as the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eye, and the pride of life……… These three areas of sin are the primary focus of the enemy in killing man’s thirst for God. How can man develop this thirst for God in the state of this environment?
It requires a deliberate application on our part.
The Psalmist says Psalms 63:1 “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;”.
The Psalmist puts the responsibility on us to seek after God, in an effort to create this thirst. If there’s going to be revival in our community it is vital that we have this thirst, the Psalmist also says in Psalm 42:2 “My soul thirsteth for God for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?”.
This type of thirst the Psalmist speaks of need to be experienced in all of our churches/the body of Christ.
Let Jesus get the last word on this in John 7:37. “Jesus said if any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink”.
We can regain this thirst, by going to Jesus the fountain of living water for a drink).

The things of this world does not satisfy, they only have you thirsting for more and they are temporal. As the deer pants after the water brook, so my soul pants after You O God. If you have drank from the living water Jesus gives, it becomes water springing up into Eternal Life, then you can bring others to Him.
