It is a wonderful feeling to be appreciated by the congregation you serve. Feeling the warmth and love expressed by the congregation, one wonders if an opportunity had been missed to do more. The preaching of the gospel is such a challenge by pastors to study, to retain and present. At the same time, it is a driving force in serving. 1 Timothy 5:17-19 “Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in the word of doctrine.
For the scripture saith, thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn and the laborer is worthy of his reward. But before two or three witnesses.”.
(Verse 17 speaks of the servant receiving honor from his congregation which helped him to be encouraged as he continues to lead. We are being warned in verse (18) that we should not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And the laborer is worthy of his reward.
Recognition of service by the congregation towards God’s servants, speaks to a bonding between
us.
As a servant of God, I am very grateful for the love the congregation has bestowed upon me and my wife as we continue to serve).
