Prayer Hindrances

As Christians it is important to regularly examine our prayer lives. In his book “Prayer Power” Mosy U. Madguba talks about hindrances to prayer. Here are some hindrances.

     1. Lack of a deep intimate relationship with God (John 10:26-27)

2. Lacking the burdens of God’s Heart (Luke 22:44, Romans 8:26)
3. Lack of focus, short sightedness, narrow mindedness (Isaiah 62:6-7)
4. Being overtaken by sleep (Matt 13:24-25, I Thes 5:5-6, Proverbs 6:9-11)
5. Procrastination – putting off prayer.
6. Impure heart and motives (James 4:3, Proverbs 27:19, Luke 6:45)
7. Lack of brokenness
8. Being busy with the cares of life and other activities (1 Kings 20:39-40)
9.  Unconfessed sins (1 John 2:1-2, Proverbs 28:13, 1 John 1:8-9, Isaiah 59:1-2, 2 Chronicles 7:14).
10. Fear, lack of faith (1 John 4:18, 2 Timothy 1:7, Romans 8:15)
11. Guilt (Romans 8:1, Hebrews 8:12, Micah 7:19, Isaiah 43:25)
12. Doubt – double mindedness (James 1:5-8)
13. Lack of unity (Matt 18:19-20, Luke 1:10, Acts 1:14, 4:24)
14. Disobedience (1 Samuel 15:22-23, 2 Cor 10:6)
15. Having idols in our heart (Ezekiel 14:3, Psalm 24:4)
